Charmaine Gurule- Artist Statement

Influenced by the 20th Century Masters such as Caravaggio and William Bouguereau, Charmaine has painstakingly studied the techniques through rigorous trial and error techniques. Ultimately trying to capture the essence and overall appeal of what she always thought true art was. Diverse in her subject matters, Charmaine paints Equestrian, Landscape, and Still- life paintings, however has a greater passion for the human figure.

She loves to paint with vivid bright colors even when the mood is subdued. It is vital to her that every painting no matter the subject or difficulty level, be pursued with the anticipation of excellence. The majority of her works are commissioned, however she has been carefully placing her work in select galleries to assist in the introduction to her creations worldwide.

She recently won Best of show in the 2009 Spanish Market in Santa Fe New Mexico. Primarily self taught, her studies have been far and beyond what most academies offer. Working and collaborating with fellow esteemed artists has been a blessing as she forges forward her life’s passion with a dedication second to none.
