Linda Dodd - Artist Statement I paint. I draw. I dabble with different mediums until I am satisfied. I am on a nonstop journey of self-discovery which renders me completely vulnerable to myself and to the public. My works are journal entries written in the language of color. A recent MFA graduate described my work as “Pollock and Picasso on Prozac” … I have since been trying to channel them but I think they’re on different drugs now. I tout no formal training whatsoever. My need to paint, or to create, has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. My work has evolved, and continues to evolve… which makes the future sometimes exciting and sometimes excruciating. If what you see touches you, I am fulfilled. If what you see does not move you, then I blame it on Pollock and Picasso, who shouldn’t be taking drugs in the first place." Linda Dodd is a resident of Madrid, New Mexico and has been painting since childhood. Her paintings were shown for the first time in a local gallery in early 2007 where she remained the top selling artist for over 9 months. Her paintings are in private collections, both nationally and internationally. She is currently represented in her hometown by Jezebel Gallery, and has participated in group and one-man shows in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. | |||||
